Subud (pronounced [subud] or sue-booed) is an international spiritual movement that began in Indonesia in the 1920s as a movement founded by Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo. (The name Subud was first used in the late 1940s when Subud was legally registered in Indonesia.) The basis of Subud is a spiritual exercise commonly referred to as the latihan kejiwaan, which was said by Muhammad Subuh to represent guidance from the "Power of God" or "the Great Life Force". Muhammad Subuh saw the present age as one that demands evidence and proof, as people no longer just believe in words. He claimed that Subud is not a new teaching or religion but only that the latihan kejiwaan itself represents a kind of proof that humanity is looking for. There are now groups in over 70 countries, with a current worldwide membership of about 10,000. PracticesFrom Wikipedia under the

Q. what is Subud? Asked by Tyreeisme! - Thu May 1 08:37:11 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Subud is an international spiritual association of people of all religions as well as people with no religious affiliation. Many members report that through the practice of a spontaneous receiving the latihan kejiwaan (Indonesian: "spiritual exercise") they experience an awakening of their 'inner selves' and a greater ability to find fulfillment in life. Many members connect this experience directly with the divine (mostly described as God, or "the Great Life Force"). The Subud movement was founded in the 1920s by Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo (1901-1987), who is called Bapak (Indonesian: "Father" informal) by himself and members of Subud. The "Subuh" in Bapak Muhammad Subuh's name means "dawn" and has no relation to the word Subud.S [cont.] Answered by las - Thu May 1 08:45:35 2008 I need to choose a religion, and I don't know how. Which religion should I choose?
Q. My family has no particular religion, but we are in Subud. And I do not know whether or not to believe in God. And if I do, how to worship him/her/thee/yee, and by which religion. I don't understand what the big deal is between religions, can I not simply pray to God? Please help me. I feel a sudden urge to have a religion, something solid to lean on. I need a belief that I can have complete faith in. Asked by Sylvia - Tue Mar 23 22:29:34 2010 - - 21 Answers - 0 Comments A. If your life is unfulfilling then get a hobby - religion provides nothing more than the placebo effect and that's only if you really can't handle reality for what it is. Religion isn't something solid to lean on... it's a crutch for the weak minded. Answered by Beletje_vos AM + VT - Tue Mar 23 22:31:35 2010 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Subud"
